Founded in 2012 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, this designer and producer makes stylish handbags from local raffia and high quality Italian byproduct cow leather.
Raffia, made from the native palmyra palm, has always been a big part of Madagascar’s identity and a large portion of the world’s supply comes from Madagascar.
The process begins when the leaves are harvested which can only take place during select seasons. Next, they are dried and dyed using eco-friendly non-toxic dyes and then meticulously sorted for quality.
The leather is cut and and sewn by a nearby workshop famous for their craftsmanship that partners with international haute couture brands.
Back at the workshop, a team of 12 artisans carefully hand-crochet each bag incorporating the hand-cut and stitched leather to complete the bag.
