The most traditional way to clean Berber rugs is to shake it out outdoors and, if possible, leave it out in the sun for a couple of hours. Alternatively, you can vacuum it across the width. This will also help you get rid of the occasional, but normal, shedding. To remove a fresh spill or stain, clean your rug immediately using a non-colored damp cloth and warm water. Avoid rubbing. Follow with water and natural soap or rug shampoo if necessary. Do not use a product containing oxy or harsh chemicals. Consult a professional rug cleaner for large or serious stains.

Royal Purple Moroccan Rug

These vintage rugs were handwoven by Berber women in rural communities across Morocco. The Berber tradition of women weaving rugs has existed for over a thousand years.

It takes months to complete one Royal Purple Moroccan Rug - after the wool is cleaned, hand-spun and dyed the weaving process can begin. Each knot is tamped down with a heavy comb, one knot at a time. In addition to distinctive patterns and designs, the thickness of wool yarn and the way it is looped and knotted is characteristic of the plush texture of Berber rugs. The rugs were originally made for use at home as bedding or blankets.

Each rug is sourced directly from Berber families and artisans who are paid fairly. A percentage of sales from every rug is donated to Education for All, an organization that combats the lack of access to education and helps create opportunities for women and girls in remote areas of Morocco.
